Discovery of cells

 Robert Hooke for the first time in 1665 discovered a honey comb like structure while he was studying a sample from the bark of a tree under his self made primitive microscope.

The honey comb like structures were without any cell organelle. They were dead cells. The structure which was visible had a definite shape. This was due to the presence of cell walls around the cells.
